Meet Shelby and Jarrod. Their love story starts in their freshman year of college and leads them all the way to their happily ever after.
We lived across the hall from each other during our freshman year of college.
As soon as our lives started to become more and more entwined I knew it was meant to be, if he can live with my crazy self and deal with me every day he must be the one lol. I got to show him things that have been so important in my life, like Disney, and now we get to experience these things together.
Jarrod proposed on January 5th, 2019. We were on the Disney Fantasy and it was Captain’s Cocktail night. It was only his second cruise and we were traveling with my parents and sister. My father was the only one who knew it was going to happen and had actually kept the ring since November. We went to take photos on the stairs and in front of the statue in the atrium of the ship that night since everyone was all dressed up. They had a single line for both photo spots.
Daddy and Jarrod had been acting a bit strange but my mom and I thought nothing of it. We took photos on the stairs and my mom made a comment about how we needed to take a family photo without Jarrod since he isn’t officially a part of the family yet.
Then we went to the statue and Jarrod wanted us to go first, APPARENTLY, my dad handed off the ring to Jarrod AND he told the photographers what was about to happen without any of us noticing! We were standing there to get our picture and I made a comment that he was standing really weird, then he turned to me with the biggest smile on his face, got down on one knee, and pulled out the box (which was huge, which was why my dad had been holding up until seconds before) then he asked me to marry him.
Myself, my mom and sister were all in shock and immediately started crying tears of joy. I couldn’t even speak and honestly didn’t hear anything Jarrod said I just shook my head yes and put the beautiful ring on my finger! The whole lobby and balcony were clapping for us, it was crazy because the last cruise we had been on we had witnessed the same proposal in the same spot less than a year prior. Jarrod could hardly eat dinner because he had been so nervous.
The fact they both kept this secret for so long from all of us was almost more shocking than the proposal but I’m so glad they did. We then had the remainder of the week to enjoy being engaged before we got to tell the rest of the world, a luxury I didn’t even know I needed/wanted. It was truly a magical moment that I will never forget.
Jarrod and my dad pretended to go to work in their contractor’s clothes, but actually went to Zales to buy my ring!
We have been together 3 1/2 years and counting!
I love his personality and how amazing of a partner he is. We were truly made for each other and I’m overjoyed that I get to spend the rest of my life with him.
Traveling/cruising to new places, but we are always down for a Disney trip even if it’s just for a weekend!
This is Us
Getting to be with our family and friends in a more intimate setting and actually being on the boat since our wedding is a little uncertain at the moment with the pandemic.
We LOVE Disney and had a combined bachelor/bachelorette celebration down in Disney with all of our closest friends. One of our favorite weekends at Disney.
