Stephanie + Eli

When we think of the term “love conquers all,” one of our couples, in particular, comes to mind: The story of Stephanie and Eli.

How did you meet?

We first met as college freshmen in Orlando, FL in 2012. Eli was starting his degree in Sign Language Interpreting at Valencia College and Stephanie was still figuring things out at the University of Central Florida. The first week they moved to town, both of them were dragged out downtown by their friends to celebrate their first week. (Although maybe Stephanie didn’t need much convincing). Eli met Stephanie and the rest is history.

When did you know they were the one?

In 2014, Eli was diagnosed with a particularly aggressive form of testicular cancer. It was a rocky road to remission but Eli had the invaluable support of his family and friends, and of course, Stephanie through it all. Stephanie took care of Eli and stayed with him through all of his hospital stays. She even held the puke bucket. This experience made Eli realize what was important in life and he knew that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Stephanie. Immediately after his diagnosis, he took all of his savings and purchased a sweet downhill bike and… an engagement ring!

How did they propose and where? What was your reaction? We want details!!

On January 15, 2015 Eli was officially in remission and he started planning the actual proposal. He planned a romantic evening where Eli took Stephanie to their favorite sushi restaurant and then to Lake Eola where they had one of their first dates. Eli popped the question and the couple became engaged on January 21, 2015!

How long have you been together?

Going on year #8 together, married since 2018!

What is your favorite thing about your spouse?

Eli never fails to make me laugh. He puts me first above all else and works so hard to make me happy.

Eli: Stephanie is so sweet, kind, and loving. She is always thinking of me. I also love her adventurous streak! She’s always game to do something crazy with me.

What are your favorite things to do together?

Rock climb, bike, fly, scuba, and eat!

What’s your favorite TV show you watch together?

Lucifer, workin’ moms, parks n recs

What are you most looking forward to on your big day? {Aside from marrying your best friend, of course!}

We had so much fun at our wedding. Our favorite part was dancing with all of our friends and the bike send-off!

Anything else you want to add?

Eli and I are expecting our first little boy this Fall. We weren’t sure if we were going to be able to have kids naturally so this was an amazing blessing.
